Dealing with Steve McIntyre

They are worried that this may present a slightly more conservative approach to the risks than they are hearing from CSIRO. In particular, they would like to see the section on variability and extreme events beefed up if possible

It would seem the solar cycle does in fact affect temperatures

You might like to join in the condemnation of what Japan is proposing and ensure that your country flatly rejects the proposal.

Not only do I disagree with the content of this letter, but I also believe that you have severely distorted the IPCC “view” when you say that “the latest IPCC assessment makes a convincing economic case for immediate control of emissions.

we do not have any sound basis for determining what constitutes ‘dangerous’ climate change

All these decisions about IPCC chairs and co-chairs are deeply political

Please get the inconclusive out! By the way, “possible” still has some logical issues as it is true for very large or very small probabilities in principle, but if you define it clearly it is probably OK–but “quite possible” conveys medium confidence better–but then why not use medium confidence

For your eyes only …. please delete

But what you said was “we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment”. Now you say “we are no where close to knowing where energy is going

What is becoming evident in a lot of these is the intricate involvement of the WWF with the governments of both Australia and the UK. See here

I prefer an unperfect agreement coevering the globe (almost!) as a starter over an perfect agreement that will never be agreed upon

WWF has assured some money – a few thousand EUROS what is not much to be honest but at least a start – to ask an economist with climate policy understanding to assess in a short but fleshy paper [max 10 pages] the economic costs of these weather extremes in europe.

Well it seems the proverbals hitting the fan now. Alot of people are going to get sprayed and their not going to be happy. Will be interesting to see if the mainstream media picks up the ball or cowers in the corner not willing to put Rudd of side.

Yes its going to be an interesting week – I think Turnbull is on the skids and if the populace can get some sort of traction with this so will be K Rudd and the Labor machine. Its good to see the likes of Barnaby Joyce, Nick Minchin and others stand up and speak out. Its appalling that we have these alarmist socialist policies that they are trying to rush through unresolved, unexplained and based on junk science.

Many politicians are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition that no people ought to be free till they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go into the water till he had learned to swim. Thomas Macaulay
The law will never make men free, it is men that have to make the law free. Henry David Thoreau
If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter. George Washington
