The world as we know it

An Aussie Merry Christmas

Well its around 30 d celcius here in Sydney (about 86d Fahrenheit) so a nice warm balmy day. I was able to finish work early and spent the afternoon swimming laps at Icebergs (Ocean pool at Bondi), and sitting sea side reading “the way of the Peaceful Warrior”. A very pleasant way to spend the afternoon and a pleasant way to be healthier and more real 🙂

We have rain predicted for Christmas so its going to be a wet one as Cyclone Laurence turns into a rain band moving across the continent – great news for the farmers!. So heres wishing all of you a very merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2010! Thankyou for visiting my blog. After 2 months Im running at 5,000 6,000 visitors a month and rising – so a huge thankyou. For those whose sites I’ve referenced – also a huge thankyou – there are so many great authors, scientists, researchers etc.

I feel the net properly used can become a powerful tool where individuals like us, linked together can speak up, make a difference and become a powerful force! And we have seen that in 2009. My wish list for 2010 – good governance and science, government and science transparency and accountability.  We need small governments who are there to empower the people! Hopefully the global warming scam will be well and truly buried in 2010 – I feel that there will be significant lawsuits against those who push the fraud. As climategate continues to have a domino effect it will be very interesting times!

So heres to 2010 – the year of living dangerously! (music by Vangelis)

Met office finally starts to release the codes that for years it hid, More eco-religious child abuse, Climategate guide

Blogosphere goes off – Mann a laughing stock

Huge congratulations to Joanne Nova for her excellent site and the tenth translation of the skeptics handbook – well done Joanne – you can visit her here and wish her all the best!

We fight not to enslave, but to set a country free, and to make room upon the earth for honest men to live in. Thomas Paine

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. RONALD REAGAN,
My definition of a free society is a society where it is safe to be unpopular. Adlai E. Stevenson Jr
If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarantee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors. There is no other. Carl Schurz
The First Amendment is often inconvenient. But that is besides the point. Inconvenience does not absolve the government of its obligation to tolerate speech. Justice Anthony Kennedy
Self-reliance is the only road to true freedom, and being one’s own person is its ultimate reward. Patricia Sampson
Many politicians are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition that no people ought to be free till they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go into the water till he had learned to swim. Thomas Macaulay
The law will never make men free, it is men that have to make the law free. Henry David Thoreau
If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter. George Washington
