The world as we know it

K Rudd's internet censorship and the end of free speech!

“It is not the function of Government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the Government from falling into error.”   –  Robert H. Jackson (1892-1954), U.S. Judge

K Rudd’s Labor government is on the internet censorship watch list along with other dictators like Iran and North Korea. More here. Reporters without borders has put the K Rudd government in its Internet Enemies report with their behavior ‘under surveillance’. They say “Under the guise of fighting child pornography, the government wants to set up a filtering system never before seen in a democracy“, this is despite child pornography already being by the Broadcasting Services Act of 2000. Labor’s Stephen Conroy was last year named Internet Villian of the Year at the annual internet industry awards. In recent days it seems there are many more in the political left like green’s senator Milne who like the ABC and BBC do not hold freedom of speech in high regard except if it’s their own. Internet censorship laws in Australia have failed to protect children and continue to censor adults. More here. Left leaning censors may keep in mind they too will fail, not just in policy but also office.

Showing the political left is a repressive regime opposing the freedoms of speech so valued in the rest of the world a new bipartisan Global Internet Freedom Caucus to promote online free expression was launched on Tuesday. They will try and introducing legislation aimed at providing groups and individuals with the tools to bypass efforts by some countries to block or censor the Internet. Meanwhile political opposition to net censorship grows with new political parties being formed who are attracting a large vote and starting to make their presence felt at the polls. However the Labor party is dismissive of any political impacts, dismissive of freedoms and rights of its people and as a dictatorship blindly barges on regardless!

Pirates party, No clean feed, Stop internet censorship,

I talk about the global warming…
The truth bothers so much that the freedom of speech is questioned… I find it dangerous for countries claiming themselves free.
The censorship remains a tool of control to manipulate the spirit of people, it’s shame to pretend to be free when on other side this practice is used.
It’s not a discrimination to expose the reality and to have our own point of view, it is information and not propaganda, a huge difference.
Each human is free to adhere either not, but to use a practice of censorship, or to divert a reality, facts show that the freedom of speech is questioned and so it puts in danger the principle of personal freedom and the freedom to think.

Hey Enzo – I get the attitude from a lot of people in the left/green movement that they think the average person is stupid. Therefore they have no qualms treating people as stupid. What these lefties/greenies refuse to acknowledge is that they are no different to anyone else (despite them feeling they are superior) and that people do have a brain that they will use. Therefore lying to people and trying to censor people wont work and people wont put up with it. Already we see the Pirates Party being formed and doing well, the Tea Party movement in the states taking off and we will see a lot more grass roots organisations rising up against the gross injustices of the greens/left as they continue to try and remove the civil liberties and rights as well as the freedoms of speech that many of us hold so dear.

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal or no weapon in the arsenals of the world is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. RONALD REAGAN,
My definition of a free society is a society where it is safe to be unpopular. Adlai E. Stevenson Jr
If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarantee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors. There is no other. Carl Schurz
The First Amendment is often inconvenient. But that is besides the point. Inconvenience does not absolve the government of its obligation to tolerate speech. Justice Anthony Kennedy
Self-reliance is the only road to true freedom, and being one’s own person is its ultimate reward. Patricia Sampson
Many politicians are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition that no people ought to be free till they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story who resolved not to go into the water till he had learned to swim. Thomas Macaulay
The law will never make men free, it is men that have to make the law free. Henry David Thoreau
If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter. George Washington
